Detroit Artist Uses Illustrators of the Future Contest Win for Art School and Upcoming Show

DETROIT, June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Resident Brittany Jackson, honored as the grand prize illustrator winner at the 2008 annual L. Ron Hubbard Achievement Awards, is using part of her $5,000 winnings to continue her undergraduate studies at Detroit's College for Creative Studies and is also working on her own art show.

Jackson won top honors out of a field of some several thousand other aspiring artists from across the globe who entered the international L. Ron Hubbard Illustrators of the Future Contest designed for new and aspiring illustrators of science fiction and fantasy. In addition to her prize money, Jackson's winning illustration was published in the contest's bestselling science fiction anthology series - L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume XXIV (Galaxy Press, 2008).

She is now working on her own art show and her works can be seen on Dieviantart.com.

"Brittany is a perfect example of why we started the Illustrator of the Future Contest to help along the most promising talent - young or old - in the highly-competitive field of professional illustration," said Joni Labaqui, Illustrators of the Future Contest Director.

The Illustrators of the Future Contest was initiated just a few years after the highly-successful creation of the annual L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future Contest for new and aspiring writers of science fiction and fantasy. Winning artists illustrate the 13 selected short stories and their work is published in the year's anthology.
